The neckband is made of “Memory Metal,” a mix of titanium and nickel, which is designed to contour to the shape of the neck.
- Huawei HiPair Technology: One of the most notable features is the built-in USB-C connector. The control panel on the right side of the neckband can be detached to reveal a USB-C plug. When plugged into a compatible Huawei device (running EMUI 9.1 or later), it automatically pairs the earphones and can also charge them. This feature eliminates the need for a separate charging cable or case for compatible devices.
- Magnetic Earbuds: The earbuds have a built-in Hall magnetic sensor. When the earbuds are magnetically attached to each other, a sensor detects this and pauses the audio. Separating them automatically resumes playback. This also helps conserve battery life when not in use.
- Audio Quality: The standard FreeLace earphones are equipped with a 9.2mm dynamic driver unit, which delivers a balanced sound with a focus on bass.
- Battery Life and Charging: The standard FreeLace offers a long battery life. Huawei claims up to 12 hours of playback on a single charge. A significant feature is the fast-charging capability, which can provide several hours of playback (e.g., 2 hours) with just a 5-minute charge via the USB-C connector.
- Durability: They have an IPX5 rating for water and sweat resistance, making them suitable for workouts and outdoor use.
- Controls: The control panel has physical buttons for volume, power, and a multi-function button for play/pause, skipping tracks, and answering/ending calls.
